Sophia Krupsha
Sophia Krupsha (b. 1998, Kingston, PA) is a painter and curator based in Seattle, WA. Working primarily in acrylic, her practice explores the intersection of natural cycles and human memory. Birds appear as central, grounding figures rendered realistically within surreal and emotionally charged landscapes. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including at Susan Eley Fine Art in New York City, Verum Ultimum Gallery in Portland, and internationally at ArtsFest Cityside in Belfast, Ireland.
Krupsha received her BFA in Drawing & Painting with a minor in Art History from The Pennsylvania State University in 2021, where she was awarded the Kara D. Berggren Best in Show Award at the Penn State School of Visual Arts Juried Exhibition. She has held curatorial and archival roles at the Sordoni Art Gallery and HUB-Robeson Center Galleries and coordinated programming at the residency Arts Letters & Numbers, where she also participated as a resident artist. Her work has been featured in conversations on art and the natural world, including the podcast Bird's Eye View with Matthew G. Radford and Art Uncovered with Kimberly Ruth.
An avid birdwatcher and wildlife photographer, her fieldwork directly informs her studio practice.
